In the following the SAP settings for Phase-out/ Phase-in of materials being explained. Core characteristics are the phase out of one material while another material phase in. To avoid exceeding stock on run-out material Phase-out/ Phase-in Management setting for SAP can be used.
- Single discontinued part (GER Einfachausläufer): 1:1 relation between run-out to run-in material
- Parallel discontinued part (GER Parallelausläufer): One leading run-out or run-in material triggers the Phase-out/ Phase-In of several other materials
Prerequisites:
- The material to be discontinued and the following-up one must be MRP relevant
- The base unit of measurement of the following-up material must be the same as the discontinued material
- The materials must be stock items (GER L=Lagerpositionen)
The following simple technical change should help to explain the necessary SAP settings. The supplier as well as the manufacturing process of the lower component PIN 307108 is going to change. The upper component 383739 keeps its material number and the change is a running one:
The relevant Run-Out/ Run-In category needs to be evaluated. Since material 307108 being substituted by material 307779 the category „Single discontinued material“ applies.
